Shop Snag

Image
Good Morning All! I'm up bright and early checking on all things Snag lol. Since I've started this business I find myself waking up earlier than usual (between 6 and 7 am) and staying up. It's also difficult for me to shut my laptop at night and not touch it (I'm talking 1 and 2 am). The first night I began seriously planning and building I went to sleep at 5 am and woke back up at around 10 am. As much as I want Snag to be a success, I also understand that there needs to be a balance. I honestly haven't felt this great about "working" in my life though, so it's hard. Thankfully. I'm seeing results fairly quickly, which wasn't expected. My constant social media work has gotten me over a hundred organic followers on Instagram, and almost 40 on Twitter within 2 days. My Facebook is growing more slowly at 46 likes on the Shop Snag page in about two weeks, which brings me to another subject. 99% of the traffic on my page is coming from areas where

Reader Special *Tuscaloosa, Alabama*

Image
Hello All! So, I have chosen the spotlight Teeny Bites reader and they are from Tuscaloosa, Alabama! While I do have family in that state, I did have to do a little research and I found out a lot of great things! Tuscaloosa is the fifth biggest city in Alabama and it is located on a river (just like my city!). From the pictures alone it looks a little bit like my town as well lol. Plenty of trees! As many of you know it's the home of the University of Alabama and (Crimson Tide!) and Bryant Denny Stadium. -Alabama was the first state in the USofA to declare Christmas a national holiday in 1836. -Alabama also has the longest state constitution in the world!  -The first 911 call was made in Alabama on Feb 16, 1968. -In Scottsboro there's a store called the Unclaimed Baggage Store that buys lost luggage from airlines after all attempts have been made to contact the original owner. After browsing for a while I noticed a restaurant called Jim N Nicks being menti

MY SITE IS OPEN WWW.SHOPSNAG.COM

WOW! This has all happened so fast! Ok, first let me get you all caught up! After I got my license, (see previous posts) I got to work immediately. Having that piece of paper in my hand made me truly realize how close I was to my goal! There is really a ton of stuff involved in running ones own business. First, I had to decide exactly what I was going to sell. This changed as I looked at different vendors and what they had to offer. I was a little nervous about venturing into the clothing side of things simply because so many things can go wrong. Sizing, color, fit, etc. I felt (and still do) that clothing can be a trap for customer returns and complaints. Granted, I'm not one of those people. If I receive the wrong color, size, etc I'll email the company politely and that's all. I don't return things or make a fuss. I think the hassle of returning items isn't worth it. But that's just me. Granted, I don't make expensive purchases online. If it's som

Traffic Feed

Hello All! I've had a pretty eventful day but all in all I have a lot more than I deserve so I'm grateful. Anyway, I LOVE looking at the live feed on the side of the blog and seeing where all of my readers are from! Which prompted me to consider writing to cater more specifically to my audience. So from now on, every day that I blog, I will dedicate one post to a random visitors city and state. If you have any input or you want to bring attention to something, someone, some business, etc, in your area email me at myittybittybits@gmail.com and I'll be sure to include it! Talk to ya soon! xo

National Act of Kindness Day

Image
One more thing! It's National Acts of Kindness Day! How great is that? Granted, I believe this should be everyday. So do something sweet. Send a little note, text, etc. Buy someones coffee, compliment a stranger, any and everything. With so much unrest and conflict going on in the world, this is definitely needed. This holiday originated in New Zealand and is actually celebrated on September 1st there. "Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a harder battle." Plato Feeling extra generous? Here are a few places to grab a little "Just because" gift. -www.gifttree.com -www.gourmetgiftbaskets.com -www.simonandco.com -www.givewine.com Also, check sites like www.groupon.com for amazing deals! #NationalActsOfKindnessDay #NationalActOfKindnessDay

Teeny update

Image
Hello!! A small update here. Some of my inventory just came in!! After thinking about what I really wanted to present to my Snag customers, I decided I wanted to cater to women AND men. Makes sense right? Granted, based on research, not nearly as many men shop online as women BUT women do buy for their husbands, sons, significant others, etc so why not have that available in the same place they shop for themselves? Here's a sneak peek  Silk ties, slim ties, bow ties AND I'm extremely excited about the Daddy and Me ties!! Stay tuned, I'l be sharing with you all the next step in my licensing process later today. xo

The beginning

Hello All! So I have to get everyone caught up! For years my entire goal has been to start my own business. Whenever anyone asked what I wanted to do with my degree my answer was always "Not work for anyone else." Most people chuckled, a few have said "I hear ya." Either way, I was and am dead serious. I see no need in working for someone else when I could do it myself. Yes, I understand the risks, I've been in school for years hearing them over and over. No benefits, all the liability, etc etc, but personally the potential way outweighs any risk. Recently I have been dealing with a lot at my current job and finally decided now is the time. I came up with a plan, or rather solidified one of the hundreds I've come up with over years, and got to planning. Within 2 weeks I had inventory samples, an artist starting my logo, a Facebook page, a website (purchased the domain name www.shopsnag.com), and last but not least my business name registered with the state a
