Deadly Nutmeg

Image
Did you know nutmeg is a hallucinogenic drug? Eating just 0.2 ounces of it can leave you convulsing and eating 0.3 ounces will lead to hallucinations. Eating a whole one will leave you in a state of “nutmeg psychosis” and with the sense of an impeding doom. There have been two recorded deaths by nutmeg in history: the first was in 1908 and the second was as recently as 2001. Inhaling or ingesting nutmeg in high doses can cause marijuanalike high. There is a long list of bad nutmeg high symptoms which include: Hallucinations Palpitations Nausea Dry mouth Fever Abdominal spasms Convulsions Dizziness Vomiting Dehydration Body pain Irritation of the skin Constipation Insomnia Lack of energy and mortor skills Lack of speaking skills / Social withdraw Contains safrole, a carcinogen that is bad for the liver.

What does the Bible say about ghosts / hauntings

Question: "What does the Bible say about ghosts / hauntings?" Answer: Is there such a thing as ghosts? The answer to this question depends on what precisely is meant by the term “ghosts.” If the term means “spirit beings,” the answer is a qualified “yes.” If the term means “spirits of people who have died,” the answer is “no.” The Bible makes it abundantly clear that there are spirit beings, both good and evil. But the Bible negates the idea that the spirits of deceased human beings can remain on earth and “haunt” the living. Hebrews 9:27 declares, “Man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment.” That is what happens to a person’s soul-spirit after death—judgment. The result of this judgment is heaven for the believer (2 Corinthians 5:6-8; Philippians 1:23) and hell for the unbeliever (Matthew 25:46; Luke 16:22-24). There is no in-between. There is no possibility of remaining on earth in spirit form as a “ghost.” If there are such

Potatos & Nutmeg

Image
Add nutmeg – just a little – it adds a depth to the potatoes that people won’t recognize, but will definitely like. This is true of virtually every potato dish.

Cook your Tomatos WITH the green stuff!

Throw in a tomato branch – the branch contains all of the flavor that we love in tomatoes – pick a leaf and smell it and you will see what I mean. Simply throw in a small stick of the tomato plant and it will give your cooked tomatoes a much stronger tomato flavor.

Tastier Stews!

When stewing meat, throw in a star anise – you can’t taste the aniseed but the flavor adds a deep richness to the meat. This is a trick used in all meat dishes by Heston Blumenthal the owner of the Fat Duck (3 Michelin stars) – voted the world’s best restaurant for three years in a row. I would suggest finding a recipe for the first time you use this trick just so you have the right amount of everything and don't end up ruining an entire pot of deliciousness ^_^    Star anise- A star-shaped, dark brown pod that contains a pea-size seed in each of its eight segments. Native to China, star anise comes from a small evergreen tree. It's flavor is slightly more bitter than that of regular anise seed. Asian cooks use star anise to give a licorice flavor to savory dishes, particularly those with pork and poultry. It's available whole or ground and is an ingredient in Chinese five-spice powder. Use it sparingly--a little goes a long way. Available year-round (and

Crooked Forest

Image
So here is a destination I came across a little while ago that I definitely wouldn't mind going to see one day when I begin my world travels :) The Crooked Forest is a grove of oddly shaped pine trees located outside the village of Nowe Czarnowo, in western Poland. The forest contains about 400 pine trees that grow with a 90 degree bend at the base of their trunks. All of the trees are bent northward and surrounded by a larger forest of straight-growing pine trees. The crooked trees were planted around 1930 when the area was inside the German province of Pomerania. It is thought that the trees were formed with a human tool, but the method and motive for creating the grove is not currently known. It appears that the trees were allowed to grow for seven to ten years before being held down and warped by a device. The exact reason why the Germans would want to make crooked trees is unknown, but many people have speculated that they were going to be harvested for
